This space is a consequence of our passion for Romanian Shepherds, and serves to welcome those who wish to find out more about these national breeds.
The pages you will be surfing through on this website (www.mioriticul.ro) will provide you with information that is as correct and complete as possible about various breeds and their specificities, and the articles, interviews and other writings are meant to integrate Romanian sheepdogs and what they represent into the tumult of our times. We once again hope that these materials will offer you the premises to appreciate Romanian Shepherds for their full worth. We are certain that these writings will be useful both to the curious visitor who will improve their knowledge about this ancestral element that represents Romania through its traditionalism, and also especially to those who own a Romanian sheepdog and wish to learn more about it and its spiritual heft, as these sheepdogs are to us, the dwellers of this spirited land, more than mere dogs. This is why we suggest that you gradually cover these materials, and come back to them whenever you deem it necessary, because it is worth offering the Shepherd Dog what it deserves: appreciation.

The Mioritic Shepherd is the ideal companion, as it is very balanced, calm and, at the same time, vigilant. It is very good for guarding herds or yards, it is very brave, and an efficient fighter against potential attackers (bears, wolves, lynxes). Although herd predators are endangered at European level, the Mioritic’s temperament and labor qualities, formed throughout centuries, remain unchanged, and it is always ready to answer a challenge.
